Aquatic Center and the Healing Power of Sound
Oct 24, 2024
In this important episode of Waukee Talkee, we sit down with Waukee Mayor Courtney Clarke and Communications Director Heather Behrens to break down two crucial ballot issues facing Dallas County and Waukee residents in the upcoming election. First, we explore the proposed Aquatic Center, a project designed to meet growing community demand for recreational spaces. Clarke and Behrens discuss the center's potential features, market differentiation, staffing needs, costs, and the ideal location within Waukee. For information on the aquatic center, click here. They also reflect on the last referendum in 2010 when the city population was just under 14,000 and how the city’s rapid growth makes this a timely discussion.
The second ballot issue is the proposed expansion of the Dallas County Board of Supervisors from three to five members. Our guests explain the reasoning behind this move, the impact of population growth, and how this change could provide better representation for the county's diverse and expanding population. In the second half of the episode, Jamie Thompson from What's Up Waukee joins us in the studio with all the spooky events and activities coming up this weekend. And Aly Davis is back with Well Waukee, this time featuring Danni Kastner from OPE (One Planet Earth) for a deep dive into sound therapy, Reiki, and the powerful convergence of Eastern and Western healing practices.
