Barber Jerry Wright’s Legacy

Dec 17, 2024

In this week’s Waukee Talkee Podcast, we kick off with "What's Up Waukee" featuring Jamie Thompson, who brings more Halloween fun to the table! Jamie shares exciting family-friendly activities and spooky events happening around town. But that’s not all – she also unveils her latest community project, "The Community Birthday Party". This initiative helps provide birthday supplies to families in need, making sure every child in Waukee has a special day to celebrate.

Next up, Brandi Smith joins us to talk about the quirky and delightful reason she commutes through Waukee with three skeleton companions named Priscilla, Prissy, and Penelope who rides shotgun. What started as a craving for companionship has become a local sensation, bringing smiles and waves from neighbors wherever they go. Brandi’s story highlights the joy of embracing community spirit and turning something simple into something memorable.

We close with Steffaney Cronin of SJC Builders, who shares her deep personal connection to Waukee and exciting plans for the new building at the Triangle. Growing up watching over the area from her grandmother's second-story window, Steffaney explains how her vision for a combined retail and professional services space will provide much-needed amenities to the downtown area. She also discusses the decision to rebuild from a clean slate, ensuring the new building is fully accessible for everyone – including her brother, who recently had a stroke and could no longer visit Jerry’s Barber Shop. Don’t forget to check out our attached Facebook post and share your input on the types of services you’d like to see in the new facility.
